Renata Soares Caceres – Double Bass
Born in Brazil, Renata Caceres started playing electric bass guitar at the age of 12, which led her to aspire for bigger opportunities as a bass player and to start on the double bass at the age of 22. After finishing a Bachelor Degree of Music with emphasis in Sound Production at Parana Federal University, she studied double bass for three years at The School of Music and Beautiful Arts, in Curitiba/PR, with Maria Helena Salomão, then moved to Ribeirão Preto/SP to study with Thibault Delor (France), and joined the Ribeirão Preto Symphony as a trainee in 2012. In 2013, Renata came to the United States to do a Masters degree in Music Performance at University of Southern Mississippi with Dr. Marcos Machado, and currently she is an Artist Diploma student at Texas Christian University, where she studies with Mr. Yuan Xiong Lu.
Renata attended to many music festivals and masterclasses in Brazil, Argentina, and in the United States, where she had the opportunity to meet a few of the greatest double bass players like Daniel Marillier, Catalin Rotaru, and Sandrino Santoro. Nowadays she is often invited to go back to Brazil to teach in music festivals and to conduct masterclasses for young students. Among her musical experiences, in 2010 Renata recorded a CD with Caçarola Orquestra de Baixos, a bass sextet focused on original instrumental music of various genres. Renata aspires to do a Doctor of Musical Arts after finishing the Artist Diploma program.
