Fletcher Rudd began his musical journey in the Arlington Independent School District after joining the string and band programs at Bryant Elementary. By the time he graduated from James Bowie HS (2014), Fletcher had performed with the “Spirit of the Volunteers” marching, concert and jazz bands – as well as the chamber, string, and full orchestras. Fletcher also served as Senior Orchestra President where he begun student teaching/conducting under the tutelage of Dianne Babcock and Jennifer Cliborn. Outside of school, Fletcher was a consistent attendee of the UT Arlington Summer Strings Camp ran by Royce, Sylvia, and Brian Coatney. From 2012-2014, he was also a member of the Arlington Youth Symphony directed by Dr. Clifton Evans.
Since entering college, Fletcher has remained musically active in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. He’s performed in the UT Arlington Symphony Orchestra, TCC – Southeast Orchestra, and Mid-Cities Strings Chamber Ensemble, where he served as principal cellist and student conductor. This past year, Fletcher added the Ft. Worth Civic Orchestra and the Northeast Orchestra to his roster. In 2017, Both ensembles were featured in-concert at Bass Performance Hall by the Ft. Worth Symphony’s “Festival of Orchestras”.
Fletcher is continuing his education at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX, where he is studying cello with Dr. Alice Lee and majoring in music education. In 2016, he joined B Sharp as a Teaching Artist in their After School and Youth Orchestra programs. In May 2017, Fletcher founded the Next Gen Chamber Players of Mansfield, TX, an all-volunteer string ensemble where he currently serves a President, Artistic Director and Conductor. Fletcher is a member of Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Orchestra Directors Association.
